About Spire Lab

The primary goal of the initiative, Speech Recognition in Agriculture and Finance for the Poor, is to generate resources and make them accessible as an open-source digital public good, thereby promoting research and innovation in the field of speech recognition in nine Indian languages related to agriculture and finance. For this initiative, nine Indian languages—Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Magadhi, Chhattisgarhi, and Maithili—are being considered.

Roles & Responsibilities

• You will be assigned a series of topics to read, comprehend, and familiarise yourself with in the areas of agriculture, finance, and general issues.
• The next step is to speak or chat to individuals in the selected language’s local dialect, such as friends and family.
• The recordings must be submitted with both the transcription and the recordings, and the transcription must be done precisely in that dialect.
• Interested candidates must complete a pilot task; they will only be chosen for the position if their performance on it is deemed satisfactory.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Typing abilities and a basic understanding of computers.
• Must be proficient in both the standard language and the local dialect in their own tongue.
• It is advantageous to have a degree in a field linked to your native tongue.
• It is advantageous to have a degree in English or a language-related course or programme.
• Need to have a desktop computer or laptop at home.
• Need to be well-versed in Google Docs.
• Ought to have reliable internet access.
• People with experience will be given preference.
