About Seagate

Data storage company Seagate Technology Holdings plc is based in the United States. Under the name Shugart Technologies, it was incorporated in 1978 and started operating in 1979. The company was founded in Dublin, Ireland in 2010, and its operations offices are located in Fremont, California in the United States.

In 1980, Seagate created the 5-megabyte ST-506, the first 5.25-inch hard disc drive (HDD).
